Distilled water is devoid of any solutes it contains no additional gases, minerals, or contaminants would it be right to give a person a IV ( interacenous) therapy of distilled water

Respuesta :

Distilled water is hypotonic to red blood cells, meaning it has a lower concentration of dissolved materials (salts, ions, etc). Water would flow into the red blood cells to try to even out the tonicity, causing them to swell and burst, and the person would most likely die.
