This is a narrative poem. It narrates how the day goes for Peggy Ann McKay. You will know that Peggy tries to make excuses so as not to go to school. In the second stanza, she has already mentioned five excuses, "My mouth is wet, my throat is dry./ I'm going blind in my right eye./ My tonsils are as big as rocks,/ I've counted sixteen chicken pox." At the end though, Peggy discovers that it is Saturday so she suddenly feels well and plans to go out to play.
