This layer contains areolar and adipose connective tissue, has a tendency to store fat, and is an area where drugs are commonly injected because of its high vascularity.
This layer is known as papillary layer. It is the uppermost layer of the dermis. It is composed of fine and loosely arranged collagen fibers. This regions is made up of loose areolar connective tissue. This makes the layer of high vascularity which enable injection of drugs effective.
