Solon was the Greek leader responsible for eventually loosening the harsh and uncompromising laws of leaders such as Draco.
Solon was an Athenian statesman, lawmaker and poet. He was noted for his efforts to legislate against political, economic and moral decline in archaic Athens. His reforms failed in the short term. In addition to this, he laid the foundations for Athenian democracy. He wrote poetry for pleasure, as patriotic propaganda and in an attempt to defence of his constitutional reforms.
