The part of the brain that is the emotional brain is known as the limbic system, namely the frontal lobe.
The cerebrum is divided into 4 parts, namely:
- Frontal lobe: located at the front of the brain, roughly parallel to the forehead bone. This lobe controls movement, speech, behavior, memory, emotion, and personality, and plays a role in intellectual functions, such as thinking, reasoning, problem-solving, decision-making, and planning.
- Parietal lobe (upper): located behind the frontal lobe which controls sensations, such as touch, pressure, pain, and temperature, and also controls spatial orientation or understanding of size, shape, and direction.
- Temporal lobes: located on the right and left sides of the brain, near the ears. This lobe functions to control the sense of hearing, memory, and emotion, and also plays a role in the function of speech.
- Occipital lobe: located at the back of the brain which controls vision.
