A student is writing an argumentative essay for class. She believes the school cafeteria should offer a wider variety of foods. Read the draft and complete the task that follows.

There needs to be some changes made in the school cafeteria. The same meals are served on a weekly basis. Monday is always meatloaf day. Tuesday is always taco day. The meals served the rest of the week are equally as boring. If the cafeteria started serving a wider variety of food, more students would buy lunch at school.

I MEAN, HOW AWESOME WOULD IT BE IF STUDENTS HAD LOADS OF OPTIONS TO CHOOSE FROM EVERY DAY? If students were able to choose from items like tacos, pizzas, sandwiches, and salads each day they would be much happier.

Middle school students are told what to do and when to do it all the time. They want some freedom to make their own decisions. The school cafeteria would be an excellent place for them to start practicing those decision making skills.

By making one simple change in the cafeteria school would be a better place for both students and teachers. Students will be happier because they can make their own food choices and eat food they actually enjoy.
