The ball python, also called the royal python, is a python species native to West and Central Africa, where it lives in grasslands, shrublands and open forests. This nonvenomous constrictor is the smallest of the African pythons, growing to a maximum length of 182 cm.

Facts about ball python: Ball pythons are named after their natural defensive behaviors. They tend to curl up into a ball with their head toward the center of the ball when threatened. With proper socialization, they can be easily handled and are very docile. They are also called the “royal python” because ancient royalty wore them as jewelry.
