Question for Book 9 in The Odyssey

So much attention is given to the cyclops, Polyphemus. In your response, I want you to characterize the Lotus-Eaters. What is so objectionable about their eating the plant? Make a parallel between the Lotus-Eaters story and some other story (whether its in films, TV, literature, art, music, the news, and so on).

Respuesta :

Answer:

A Loutus-Eater could be compared to a character who daydreams or is somewhat not connected to reality; or someone who is very materialistic. Your choice on how you see it.

Explanation:

So, this could be connected to the literature definition as an insult "a person who spends their time indulging in pleasure and luxury rather than dealing with practical concerns." What I think it might mean is someone who indulged themselves in daydreams or is more introverted in nature. This question could be interpreted on how you see the Lotus-Eaters. Hope this helps!
