A positive and a negative become a negative. First you convery the mixed fraction into an improper fraction, then you find the common denominator of all fractions, next step according to PEMDAS, you can add and subtract in any order you would like too.
1. -7 2/3 - 5 1/2 + 8 3/4
2. -23/3 - 11/2 + 35/4
3. -92/12 - 66/12 + 105/12 The common denominator is 12.
4. -92/12 - 66/12 = -158/12 A negative and a negative is addition but just add the negative sign.
5. -158/12 + 105/12 = -53/12 =
Answer= -4 5/12
This is my way of doing it but according to PEMDAS any other order of doing it is fine also!
