The simplest way to put out the fire is salt. Or try to remove the oxygen from the fire somehow. Example: putting a fire resistant cloth over the fire to restrict access to the fire.
OR
• Completely smothering the drum full of kerosene with a blanket
• Throw a whole lot of flour right on top of the fire
• Covert the drum full of kerosene with a washtub that is made up of metal.
