In Stargirl, by Jerry Sspinelli, Kevin wants Stargirl to be fake because his ratings will go sky high if he does an exposure on "Hot Seat."

Kevin cares about his show and his show only. Even if he claims to be Leo's best friend, his show and reputation clearly come first, for he shuns Stargirl just like everyone else, even though she is important to Leo.
