What is a population?

Population refers to the total number of people living in a city, country, or area. Population serves as an asset to the country but population growth and overpopulation can cause several problems such as:

1. The resources such as land, water, soil, will deplete as the use will rise.

2. Unemployment will rise as the number or jobs will be less as compared to the number of job seekers.

3. The environment will start to degrade due to increasing pollution, global warming and other harmful activities.

4. Unemployment and unavailability of resources and food will lead to poverty and hunger issues.

Hence, population should be controlled to avoid these problems.
