A managed care plan is a type of insurance for health and there are three types: HMO; PPO; and POS.
HMO stands for Health Maintenance Organizations. This type of plan pays for the care provided within the network.
PPO stands for Preferred Provider Organizations. Typically, pays bigger if within the network, but also pays out even if care was provided outside the network.
POS stands for Point of Service lets you choose between HMO or PPO for every time you need health services/care.
