1. The
title ‘To the doctor who treated the raped baby and who felt such despair’ is unusual
in that it has a long title compared to other titles of a poem. The content of
the poem mostly presents how thankful the citizens are to the doctor in saving
the baby. It is effective in relation to the poems content because the doctor knew, through diagnosis that the baby is
raped and he felt that he must fulfill his duty as a doctor by taking good care
of the baby.
2. The
word ‘and’ is repeated at the beginning of seven different lines in the poem.
It shows that the repetition indicates how grateful trust we have place on the
doctors when many of us cannot do what he does. It is to save a life in the
most desperate of circumstances. It maintains that we are all grateful that we
have doctors too treat us and we are allowed to sleep well.
3. The speaker is trying to help the raped baby by
treating and taking good care of the baby. The doctor knew, through diagnosis
that the baby is raped and he felt that he must fulfill his duty as a doctor by
taking good care of the baby.
