The Texas Consultation of 1835 was a provisional government in Texas that (4) was based on the federalist principles of the Mexican constitution of 1824 and (5) and that would set the stage for Texan independence from Mexico and eventual annexation from the US.
One of the main reasons behind the Texas Revolution was the increasing centralism of the Mexican federal government under Santa Anna. The Consultation called for a convention on november 1835 whose delegates proclamed that they supported the 1824 constitution. Although the reasons and the objectives of the Texas Revolution were not clear in the beginning, in the long run the provisional goverment would start a process towards independence that resulted in the separation from Mexico and the eventual annexation by the US.
