The Soviet Union led Warsaw Pact troops, numbering over 600,000 in an invasion of Czechoslovakia to crack down on reformist trends in Prague. the soviet feared the reformist actions of reformist Alexander Dubček, would spill over in other communist states, in Eastern Europe. While the soviet union succeeded in crashing the reformist movement, it laid ground for future uprising in the future.
