If a graph is in slope intercept form y = mx + b, the m is the slope and the b is the y-intercept. The y-intercept shifts the graph up or down.
The value of b in [tex]y=2x+2[/tex] is 2, so 2 is the y-intercept.
The value of b in [tex]y=2x+8[/tex] is 8, so 8 is the y-intercept.
However, both graphs' slopes (value of m) are the same therefore in y=2x+8 the graph is just shifted 6 units up.
