In "Paul's Case," members of the faculty don't like Paul's carnation because they think
A. it's the mark of an early death.
B. it's effeminate for a man to wear a flower.
C. it doesn't match his other clothing.
D. it suggests that he's not taking things seriously

Respuesta :

The answer is letter D. He was not taking things seriously.  He had a care-free attitude that irked the faculty.  The carnation he wore also added an air of arrogance that caused the faculty grill him.  Yet despite the harsh treatment he got from the faculty, Paul remained calm under the pressure.
