It was founded by Osman in 1300.
Their greatest moment was when they conquered the Byzantine Empire on
1453. During the height of its reign it
had lands in Asia, Africa and Europe. It
also controlled important sea routes and was force to be reckoned with until
the death of Suleiman the Magnificent which led to its decline.
