In year 1800s, children have difficult lives because no one will take care of them. There are orphanages run by Religious groups to provide help but it still not enough because the children in need are increasing in number most particularly in the cities. On the street, many children experienced being cold, alone and hungry. In the U.S, one of today’s widespread problems of families is poverty and homelessness. Yet, there is an agency that provided help to the needy in every state in the U.S. The programs are funded by generous help support by taxpayers. In New York City, Children’s Aid Society is Society is founded by Charles Loring Brace because he wanted to help poor children in the city. Many of them lived on the streets, orphanages or families who cannot take care of them. Brace aims to "place out" children in the West families who are able to take care of them and impart them good manners. Rural families are willing to help; in return, the children will help them do the daily routines in their farm. Sadly, sometimes the families appreciated the children only because of their labor. Between few months and fourteen years of age is the common involved in this so-called “orphan train riders”. 1900’s is the most common year wherein many families adopted children.
