Are "evidence" and "examples" the same thing, when writing an essay?

I'm trying to argue that a character from a book is kind at heart. My teachers said that I must use three pieces of evidence. Could I just provide three examples of the charcter being kind at heart or is evidence something different?

Evidence and Examples are in this case the same thing. But if your teacher wants evidence, then see if this helps

For this essay, you should find three things that prove your character is being kind at heart. Like, say your character “Saves a kitten”, “gives money to a homeless person”, or “Makes his/her family breakfast”
Those things PROVE that your character is being kind at heart. Therefore they are evidence

(Those things can also be examples of why your character is being kind at heart. So, kinda the same thing)
