The control of digestive system is controlled by hormones that are released from the cells lining the stomach and the small intestines. The hormones dictate when the digestive juices should be released and send signals to the brain that an individual is full or hungry. 

Digestive system in involved in breakdown of food as well as breakdown of its nutrients. It is divided in three phases, i.e., cephalic phase, intestinal phase and gastric phase. Bicarbonate and bile stimulate in intestinal phase.

The gastric activity in digestion involves following three stages:
