The process is cellular respiration. This is the process that releases energy by breaking down glucose and other molecules in the presence of oxygen. The process takes place in the mitochondria where food molecules such as sugar molecules are broken down to release the energy in the form of ATP. This energy is then used by the cells for cellular processes.
