Answer:

The correct answer to the question: Which of the following would be the best title for this timeline, is, C: The Cold War Creates an Atmosphere of Suspicion at Home.

Explanation:

After the end of the Second World War, and even right before that, conflict began to arise between the two countries that had played a key role in the war, and whose ideas of what government styles should be like, were polar opposites: the United States and the Soviet Union. This conflict which originated from the belief that either Communism or Capitalism and Democracy, were better, and coupled with the use of nuclear power by the U.S and the development of the same power by the USSR, opened up a gate that led in a whole new war: the Cold War. Although not a direct military conflict, it did divide the world tremendously, and could have led to a Third World War. But one of the most important effects, at least in the U.S, was the terrible atmosphere of conspiracy, suspicion and accusations against people because they were believed to be on the Soviet side, and to be their spies. Many people, like the Rosenbergs, were unjustly accused and sentenced simply because the Cold War, and the fear of Communism, ignited fanaticism in a lot of people, and especially politicians. The end result was an atmosphere of fear, suspicion and persecution.
