She used rope to create a trap

In "A Way to Rainy Mountain", by N. Scott Momaday, according to the myth, the grandmother spider captures the sun's child making a snare with a rope. The sun's child sees the spider that speaks to him and is frightened. The spider tries to figure out if it's a boy or a girl. She leaves a ball, a bow, and an arrow. When she returns the ball is full of arrows, by that she knows it's a boy. She tries to capture him and she does it by making a snare with a rope. The boy is captured by the snare but cries and cries until grandmother spider sings to him and he falls asleep.
