Let me give you an example of a very important NASA mission that was worth about 16 billion dollars:
so NASA hired multiple groups,one to calculate how much fuel the rocket needed and another group to put that fuel(BTW it was a mission to Mars)
so the people who were measuring how much fuel was needed were chinese and they used the metric system to calculate but when they sent the calculations to the fuel putters who were Americans they didn't put the right amount of fuel because the chinese didn't that u.s doesn't use the matric system and they put the wrong amount of fuel and NASA lost the 16 billion dollar mission because the rocket didn't have enough fuel to come back.
so my point is that if the matric system isn't changes to u.s system alot of misunderstanding can be cause and people won't be able to understand the difference between miles and kilometers.
