The earths interior is divided into three main parts-

a) Crust

b) Mantle- Mantle is divided into upper mantle and lower mantle.

c) Core- It is also divided into two parts such as inner core and outer core.

Crust is the uppermost layer of the earth that includes the surface and up to a depth of about 7-40 km on average.

The upper mantle lies just below the crust. And lithosphere refers to the crust and a small part of the upper mantle. The asthenosphere is the layer present below the lithosphere and here the rocks are solid but behave in a plastic manner. Rocks can move due to deformation. The lithospheric plates move over this region.

The lower mantle is the region that lies below the upper mantle and is the innermost layer of the two mantle. Here the magma gets heated up due to the interior heat and rises up towards the upper mantle generating convection current.

The outer core is comprised of molten rocks, mostly iron, nickel and is liquid in nature whereas the inner core has the same composition but is solid in nature and is denser than the outer liquid core.

Lastly, the geosphere is the entire region that is made up of all the above layers namely crust, core and mantle.
