Cesar Chavez united migrant workers in the American Southwest and West Coast. He helped to co-found the National Farm Workers Association. He traveled speaking about farm workers' rights. He helped to set up various strikes and settle them so that the workers benefited. Surprisingly, Chavez was against the Bracero Program, a program designed to guarantee migrant workers living conditions and bring in migrant workers. Chavez saw the program as harmful to the US farm workers and as a way to take advantage (in a bad way) of the migrant workers.
