A compound is a combination of 2 or more elements. They are chemically combined at fixed proportions. The resulting compound changes the original property of the components.
A mixture on the other hand is physically combined at variable proportions. The components retain their properties. But like compounds, they also are made up of elements and they can have more than 2 components.
