Phils age is 7 years more than 1/5 times peters age. Also, 4 times phils age is 2 years less than twice peters age. If x is peters age in years, identify the equation that represents this situtation and identify the solution to the equation

The two equations that can be written given the information are:
h = x/5 + 7   and    4h = 2x - 2
When x = Peter's age and h = Phil's age.

If we use substitution, we can come up with the equation:
4(x/5 + 7)= 2x - 2
4x/5 + 28 = 2x - 2 
4x + 140 = 10x - 10
150 = 6x
25 = x
