You didn't provide any points, but you'd need only two per line.

If the points are (a,b) and (c,d), the slope would be (d-b)/(c-a).

Slope really means "how much does the y change when the x advances by 1?"

In above two points, the y-difference is d-b. However, the x-difference is not 1, but it is c-a. If we divide by c-a, we get the y difference as if x advanced by 1.
D(4,5) E(-3,-9)

Let
(4,5) = (x₁ , y₁) and (-3,-9) = (x₂ , y₂)
Slope = (y
₂ - y₁) / (x₂ - x₁)
Slope = (-9 -5) / (-3 -4)
Slope = 14/7
Slope = 2

OR
Let (4,5) = (x₂ , y₂) and (-3,-9) = (x₁ , y₁)
slope = (5 - (-9)) / (4 - (-3))
slope = 14/7
slope = 2
