Ancient grains are products that have small change through a long period of time.

Food companies labeled quinoa, millet, buckwheat, grains spelt as types of ancient grain. Ancient grains are known to be a source of minerals and nutrients than modern grains; particularly abundant of fiber and proteins.

Here are a few examples of Ancient grains:

Spelt- a variety of species related to the common wheat

Khorasan wheat (kamut)- an oriental wheat usually found in Iran

Millet- a gluten-free grain that is widely known as a cereal crop

Barley- a popular cereal used for fermentation of beer

Teff- a species of lovegrass that has a small grain

Oats- nutrition rich food grown for its seed, which is commonly used to make oatmeal and rolled oats

Bulgur- a whole wheat grain that comes from the parbroiled groats of different varieties of wheat
