Write the polynomial in standard form. Then identify the polynomial by the number of terms. -5x^2-2x^3-4x
A
-4x-2x^3-4x; binomial
B.
-4x-5x^2-2x^3; trinomial
C.
-2x^3-5x^2-4x; trinomial
D.
-2x^3-4x-5x; binomial

Respuesta :

In order to put in standard form order the numbers from greatest to least by exponent's

-5x^2[?]-2x^3
-5x^2[<]-2x^3

so:
-2x^3-5x^2-4x
Second part:
a term is either a single number or variable, so we can conclude that (-5x^2) is a single term, so is (-2x^3) and (4x) because there are 3 terms this would be considered a Trinomial. Looking at the answers we can single out A and D because they do not have Trinomial in the answer. Since the standardized form starts with (-2x^3) We can single out B. giving us the answer of C.

Answer: C

Hope this helped :). Sorry if my grammar is off.
