These ideas have to be present in modern times, because the US wouldn't be as strong they are today with unity and the ability to overcome being divided in half and coming back together as a functioning nation. Today our unity has kept the US together after events like the great depression (both of them) and Everytime the stock market shuts down. The US has been a nation for this long because the nation stays United noatter what.
