The answer is somatic symptom disorder. A person diagnosed with SSD is undergoing extreme anxiety and stress about a physical symptom that he/she could not stop thinking about it until it already affects how they function. Bethany is not faking these physical complaints but she chooses to go to a primary care provider to have these checked and refused to accept the idea that a psychiatrist could provide assistance to her better.
