Layers of the atmosphere: troposphere, stratosphere, mesosphere and thermosphere.
The ozone layer or ozone shield is a region of Earth's stratosphere that absorbs most of the Sun's ultraviolet (UV) radiation.
The troposphere gets its heat from the ground, and so temperature decreases with altitude. Warm air rises and cool air sinks and so the troposphere is unstable.
In the stratosphere, temperature increases with altitude.
