The Ku Klux Klan was originally founded in Pulaski, Tennesse. This group was made in order to stop African-Americans from gaining any sort of political power in the US. The KKK used violence and intimidation to ensure this happened.
The 15th amendment ensures that American citizens can vote, regardless of race. Along with this, citizens can not be stopped from voting based on their past condition (aka they can't be stopped from voting because they used to be slaves).
Jim Crow laws were created in order to restrict the rights of African-Americans after the Reconstruction amendments were passed. These stopped African-Americans from voting by using literacy tests and poll taxes.
