The separate part was followed to it the equal part was absolutely not. The separation by races was called segregation. African Americans had much worse conditions than white people, they had poor schools with bad resources, low quality healthcare, forced to sit in the back of buses and theaters and couldn’t eat in the same restaurants. Segregation was over all very unequal and African Americans suffered a lot with poor education, job opportunities, incomes and housing as well.
