The Hittites were the first to use chariots as a weapon.
The chariot was a light vehicle, usually on two wheels, drawn by one or more horses. It often carried two standing persons, a driver and fighter using bow and arrow or javelins.
The Hittites success in battle was due to their use of a kind of light chariot. The Hittite chariots were not only light weight, but they were fast and narrow enough to fit onto small roads and paths.
