Why did President Thomas Jefferson favor assimilation?
He believed the Indians would fight each other until they all perished unless they were assimilated.
He believed that through assimilation the Indians would sell their land more readily.
He hated the Indians for their role in his defeat by the Creeks and Seminole tribes in earlier battles.
He thought the Indians would decide to fight rather than be assimilated, so they would cause their own demise.
He thought the southern states would treat the Indians fairly and the groups would learn to live together.

The president Thomas Jefferson favored assimilation because he believed the Indians would fight each other until they all perished unless they were assimilated. This is the most likely reason, he also considered that if they assimilated them, there would be no tensions anymore between the people who lived in the US and the native Americans who had been there before.
