A cell is viewed under a microscope and is found to have two nuclear envelopes and spindles that appear to be breaking apart.Telophase of mitosis is the cell most likely in.
Answer: The correct answer is D) Telophase.
Mitosis is a type of cell division that involves formation of two daughter cells from parent cell with same genetic material.
It is primarily divided into 5 stages that is-
1) Prophase - condensation of chromosomes and disappearance of nuclear membrane.
2) Metaphase - chromosomes line at metaphase plate and sister chromatids are attached to spindle fibers from opposite poles.
3) Anaphase - sister chromatids are pulled towards opposite poles.
4) Telophase - Chromosome decondensation takes place at opposite poles and chromatin is surrounded by nuclear membrane at opposite poles. The mitotic spindles break down at this phase.
5) Cytokinesis- division of cytoplasm such that two daughter cells are separated.
