Find the slope of the line that passes through each pair of points
(2,2), (3,1).
(4,2), (02)
(-1,2), (0,5)
(-3,-2), (-3,2) plz help me understand the answer to

Respuesta :

slope formula : (y2 - y1) / (x2 - x1)
u have 2 sets of points...
set 1 : (2,2)...so we will label these : x1 = 2 and y1 = 2
set 2 : (3,1)...so we will label these : x2 = 3 and y2 = 1
now we sub into the formula and solve
slope = (1 - 2) / (3 - 2) = -1/1 = -1 <==

and thats how u find the slope.

(4,2),(0,2)....little tip on this one...when ur y values are the same, u have a horizontal line. A horizontal line has a slope of 0.

(-1,2),(0,5)
slope = (5 - 2) / (0 - (-1) = 3 / (0 + 1) = 3/1 = 3

(-3,-2),(-3,2)....little tip on this one...when ur x values are the same, u have a vertical line. A vertical line has a slope that is undefined.
