I'm going on a limb here and say C. I did some research and the closes answer I got was C.

A) Robert Fulton: he developed the first successful commercial steamboat, the North River Steamboat.
B) Cyrus McCormick: he invented the mechanical reaper in 1831. It automatically cut, thrashed and bundled grain.
C) Samuel Morse: invented the single-wire telegraph system. In 1842 he used this system between the two Capitol Committee romms in Washington D.C.
D) Samuel Slater: he stablished the first cotton mill in the U.S. in 1793
The steam engine was invented by Thomas Newcomen in 1712 in England. Later on, it was imporved by James Watt, with his improvements it could be used for power in factories.
