The correct answer is A.  During the Renaissance, which proceeded the Middle Ages, artists often turned to sacred texts such as the Bible for inspiration.  One example is Leonardo da Vinci’s “The Last Supper” which depicted Jesus and his twelve disciple.  Other sources of inspiration included nature and man’s individuality. Additionally, many works of art portrayed scenes from life such as marriage and childbirth or represented a person such as the mysterious woman in da Vinci’s “Mona Lisa”.
