In his Book "Fear of Change" (1922), Henry Ford made an open statement that the overall "fear of change" is what is hindering society's ability to further develop and thrive.

He mentions that there are two evils in the world:

  1. Poverty: He states that it is eliminated not by eliminated the poor, but rather eliminating the causes of poverty, which are inequality and lack of opportunities for these populations. This is solved by improving the education and living conditions of the poor.
  2. Privilege: He states that just as poverty, privilege is eliminated by eliminating its causes, which are the lack of involvement of the privileged people in the day to day work activities of their businesses. He states that "No man has been harmed for going into business"

  • Poverty could be reduced by creating equality in opportunity for all.  Thus, education and living conditions must be focused on by the government so that poor may get a chance to earn a higher living for them.

  • Privilege is reduced when the government would NOT involve the upper social class or bureaucrat in decision-making. thus, policies and businesses must be operated with less involvement of privileged people to NOT benefit them more.
