Respuesta :

Dependent clause means it needs help. I remember it like this..  I need my girlfriend, without her I don't get anywhere so...

D. It's not a complete thought

Answer:

D) Because David loved adventure, he resolved that one day he would explore the Alaskan wilderness.

Explanation:

A clause is a group of related words that have at least a subject and a verb. When the clause can stand on its own, and have full meaning, the clause is independent; but when it does not express a complete idea on its own, and therefore, needs another clause to make sense, it is dependent.

In Sentence D, while “he resolved that one day he would explore the Alaskan wilderness” is an independent clause, “Because David loved adventure” is a dependent clause because it does not express a complete idea on its own: this clause is meant to be part of a bigger sentence and not to stand alone as a full sentence.
