William Dawes alerted colonial minutemen in Massachusetts at the approach of British army troops prior to the Battles of Lexington and Concord.
Alongside Paul Revere, he made the iconic Midnight Ride which alerted the colonial minutemen in Massachusetts of the approach of British troops the night of April 18th, 1775 (before the Battles of Lexington and Concord). Unlike Revere, he was not captured by the British, yet his role has faded into obscurity over the years.
