The American Revolution ended in 1783 with a colonial victory over the British Empire. Through the Treaty of Paris signed in 1783, England recognized the new independent nation of the United States after successful secession from the Empire. It also helped create further boundaries for the US, who established new territories in between the Appalachian Mountains and Mississippi River. These new territories helped expand the US further, and the US was now in control of the balance of power for this newly acquired region.
