Respuesta :
Colonists went through a starving period (C.) in which they ate rats and other inadequate sources of food
Answer:
C. Colonists suffered greatly and called the winter the “Starving Time.”
Explanation:
On the winter of 1609 - 1610 about three-quarters of the English colonists in Virginia died of starvation and diseases related to starvation. The terrible conditions that they faced were caused by an extreme drought, bad relations with the local Powhatan Confederacy and the loss of a ship full with supplies that was sent to help them. Settlers were forced to eat snakes, vipers, rats, horses, their shoe leather and there's evidence that some recurred to cannibalism. Only 60 from the 240 colonists survived the "Starving Time" as it is known.
