Many delegates to the French National Convention were from the Jacobin club, which was made up of smaller radical groups. The Jacobin had distinct characteristics, such as being from Paris with a strong interest of the common people, "less respect for political shibboleths and they had an extra capacity for realistic, and if necessary, ruthless experimentation."
